Middlesbrough vs. Sunderland Premier League start time, live stream

Middlesbrough and Sunderland are clashing today for their Premier League match at the Riverside Stadium with both the teams desperate for a win. Both clubs are looking to end miserable runs of form. There are no longer any moral victories, both desperately need three points.

Middlesbrough has had a terrible season and hasn’t managed to garner a single victory this year. The club can’t do any worse for it has now sacked Aitor Karanka midway through March. Currently assistant manager Steve Agnew is at the helms of the team; however, ever since he has taken over, the team has scored four goals in six games, but has conceded 13.

The main, and sometimes only, threat at scoring is through loanee Alvaro Negredo, who has eight goals on the season. The other players on the club combined have 14. Look no further than that to see why Middlesbrough are almost assuredly relegation fodder.

Sunderland isn’t doing a lot better either as they are currently three points adrift of 19th-place Middlesbrough with a game in hand. The team desperately needs three points if they are to even think about staying up. Jermain Defoe has knocked in 14 goals so far, but, like Middlesbrough, Sunderland have nearly no other threat going forward.

David Moyes’ club have scored 26 goals on the season but given up 58, the fourth-worst record in the Premier League. Sunderland sit 12 points from safety with two games in hand, but they mean nothing without wins. Wednesday’s match against Middlesbrough is a true six-pointer, but it does seem a bit futile at this point. Moyes appears to be more resigned to his fate after every loss, and the club behind him do as well.
