Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) created quite a stir with its 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and considering that the automaker has now garnered adequate experience with Hybrid vehicles, we believe a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Hybrid couldn’t be ruled out.
Reports have emerged on the web that claim to have some insider knowledge about the Wrangler and RAM Hybrid variants. FCA has most likely started work on 2018 Jeep Wrangler Hybrid and while there are no confirmed reports from the automaker that it is going down this path, reports go to the extent of stating that there is a possibility that the Wrangler Hybrid could do some part sharing with the recently announced Pacifica Hybrid.
Jeep Wrangler isn’t as large as the Pacifica and this makes us think whether the part sharing idea that has been floated by those claiming to have knowledge about the future vehicles is actually a viable option for FCA or not. Consider the case of battery packs. Pacifica has got the battery packs lined up below passenger cars because of the space it has. Wrangler on the other hand doesn’t have that luxury and so fitting battery packs like the Pacifica isn’t a possibility.
Further, Wrangler is an off road adventure vehicle and exposing the battery packs to damage from rugged terrain by putting it underneath the seats isn’t a viable option. However, that doesn’t mean that Wrangler will not adopt any of the internal design aspects of Pacifica for its hybrid version.
While a hybrid option for an off road vehicle might not seem impressive one at first, the overall benefits are huge. More and more people are inclined to adopt cars that are environment friendlier than existing cars, and are economical when it comes to fuel. This makes hybrid variants of cars a great option and that’s why a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Hybrid makes sense.
