Haden Blackman, Studio Head and Creative Director at Hangar 13, has confirmed in an interview that Mafia 3 will support Sony’s upcoming iteration of PlayStation 4 – the PS4 Pro.
The game will be blessed with improved visuals for the PS4 Pro and one of the primary reasons is that the PS4 Pro gives developers more room to extend the capabilities of the game and to take it even further from the limits that were imposed by PS4.
“I’m always excited about new technology because it means we can push our art even further,” Blackman said in an interview with Gadgets 360. “For the PS Pro specifically, we’ll add some graphics upgrades.”
One of the things that could be a negative for PS4 Pro, which is going on sale next month, is the lack of titles that are capable of utilising the platform’s improved specifications. While gaming companies have already announced new titles for the PS4 Pro there is still a lack of variety. However, if titles like Mafia 3 are remade for the new platform, things will improve and will lure gamers into buying the new console.
Mafia 3 follows the exploits of Lincoln Clay building a new family after his mob was betrayed and hunted down by the Italian Mafia in New Bordeaux. Considering employees at Hangar 13 have worked on the likes of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Knights of the Old Republic, it’s likely that Mafia 3 will have a strong narrative. Nonetheless, we’ll only know for sure when the game is out on October 7.
