Porsche has delivered great cars over its entire history and while each of the models is as stunning and unique as its predecessor, there are few models that Porsche itself believes are the most rare and unique.
Offering a low down of Porsche’s most rare and unique models is a video published on Porsche’s official YouTube channel. The video is titled Rare Porsche factory models and is the first video in the series of videos under its new Porsche Top 5 series.
The video offers behind-the-scenes information into Porsche’s factory collection giving us a chance to drool over some of its rarest and most enticing models. The 964 Turbo S for the Weissach racing team comes in at number 5. The car was commissioned back in 1992, with most of its bits and parts coming directly from the race-exclusive models. Porsche manufactured just 86 units of the 964 Turbo S.
At number four is the Porsche 924 Carrera GTS. Porsche manufactured just 49 units of this car and each of these cars wore a bespoke Indian Red finish.
The Porsche 911 GT1 has been placed at third spot by its manufacturer and is seen as one of the iconic models of the automaker. The 911 GT1 was produced specifically for competition in Le Mans, and got a very limited series production of just 21 examples, to comply with FIA homologation rules, each getting a 521 horsepower (400 kilowatts) mill.
The 1984 Porsche 911 SC/RS saw just 20 units produced and the Porsche manufactured this precisely for rally racing.
The legendary 356 America Roadster with just 16 units ever manufactured topped the list. The car served as an inspiration for another Porsche legend – the 356 speedster.
