Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has issued a recall of approximately 25 model-year 2017 Ram ProMaster City vans citing air bag issue.
According to the automaker, there is an issue with seat-mounted side air bag inflator because of which it may fail to activate during a crash thereby increasing the risk of injury to the passengers during an accident. The 2017 Ram ProMaster City that have been recalled were manufactured between October 1 and December 7, 2016, the automaker says.
FCA said in a press note that car owners will not have to spend anything and dealers will notify owners and replace the seat-mounted air bags free of charge. The recall will take sometime before it begins and according to the automaker the recall is expected to begin January 28. Owners should contact Ram manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles at 800-853-1403, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov.
