A disgruntled French man went on a rampage destroying thousands of dollars worth of iPhones in an Apple Store in Dijon, France.
The whole ordeal was captured by a person present in the store. As is seen from the video, the guy calmly places the iPhones on the table and then smashes them with what seems to be a metal ball. The damage done to the iPhones isn’t shown in the video, but considering the blunt force with which the iPhones are being smashed, there is little chance that the screens on any of the iPhones would have survived.
The guy, according to the reports in the local French media, got angry because the Apple Store staffers denied him the two years of warranty according to EU requirement. Apple agreed to this requirement after it was slapped with a fine of $1.2 million in Italy, but the requirement isn’t compulsory for all countries which are part of the EU and that’s what ticked the French guy off.
In the video the guy continues smashing tens of iPhones until he comes across a MacBook Air at which point he smashes the screen of that one as well.
The guy even speaks to onlookers and Apple Store staffers in between his smashing rampage. Near the end of the video, he is seen talking with one of the security personnel. After a little bit of argument he is guided outside the store at which point the video ends.
There have been instances of Apple products being damaged in Apple Stores before. During the famous Bendgate controversy of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, two 15-year old kids were seen bending an iPhone inside an Apple Store in England. Although both these incidents involve damage to Apple property, the video above is more sinister in nature.
